The Banks Foundation Has Awarded Three New Grants
The Banks Foundation, a tax-exempt organization that assists families who are moving from welfare to work and from public housing to private homeownership, has awarded three new grants to provide down payment assistance to families who have qualified to purchase their first home. This money was awarded from over $28,000 the Foundation raised to offer grant applications in the 2012-2013 grant cycle to the following recipients:
Curtis Newkirk received a $1,000 grant on September 18, 2012.
Jessica Zenaida Estrada received a $1,000 grant on October 29, 2012.
Aymina M. Wheeler received a $1,000 grant on January 31, 2013.
“We really enjoy being able to provide support for these families at a time of need to help them achieve the American Dream,” said Anna Cooper, Treasurer of The Banks Foundation.
The Banks Foundation provides downpayment assistance to families who have received public housing or Section 8 assistance in the past, have entered into and completed a Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) contract or similar agreement, have income that is less than 80% of the area median income, and have qualified for a home load. Grants average around $2,000.
